How to stay Motivated in your Freelancing Job

Although, many people swear by the freedom and joys of freelancing, there comes a time when you might feel that you are losing your drive and interest in it. This is because you are more focused on finishing the job to start another or on beating the deadline rather than in enjoying the process of doing something you actually love.

Manage your time

One of the beauties of freelancing is that you make your own call when it comes to your working hours. Some freelancers however make a big mistake by taking on more work than they are capable of. Others procrastinate till the last minute. Either way, both of these results to a lot of rushing which will leave you drained and overwhelmed. Burnout will make you lose your passion. That is why pacing is needed. You should take breaks between jobs to refresh and recharge yourself. In case of big long-term projects, break it up by inserting short periods of rest through the day.

Keep the passion burning

Why did you become a freelancer in the first place? Remembering your initial reasons for choosing this type of job might prove to be one of the foremost motivational factors for you. Is it the money? Is it the freedom of having more time with your family or your personal needs? Whatever it may be just take a minute to think about it and for sure you will find the drive to keep on going.

You might also want to put more focus on projects that really interest you. After all freelancing gives you the leeway to choose the type of project you want to get involved in. This way, you will not get bored.

Create a personal workspace

While this may seem irrelevant, you will find that this advice will surely make a difference in helping you out of your rut. It does not have to be an entire room: a small corner of your living room can be allotted for your own table and office supplies. The psychological benefit is that the space will help you focus more on your tasks and maintain a separation from your work and personal lifeā€”even if you are working in the comforts of your own home. Furthermore, aside from doing your work there, you also leave your work there as soon as you finish, giving you the time for much-needed breaks between jobs.
